    Position Objective:


    The Reservations & Event Services Intern will gain knowledge, ability, and skills relating to registration and conference services in a camp setting by assisting in the planning, coordination of details, reservations, communications and hosting of assigned events (conferences, retreats, camps, meetings, banquets, etc.) taking place at MHA, to ensure a seamless and enjoyable event experience for guests and group leaders in a manner consistent with MHA's mission, vision and values.

    Key Job Accountabilities:

    • Assist in serving as a main point-of-contact for event leaders and MHA staff, assisting guests during their stay by providing answers to questions, helping with directions, setups, check-in, and general administrative services, etc. 
    • Assist and learn protocol regarding retreat group official greeting and closing procedures.
    • Assist and learn how to review Booked Event Orders (BEOs) through present for the BEO meetings.
    • Check and confirm room set-ups, refreshment breaks, special requests, and meals.
    • Continually coordinate with leadership staff, offering any assistance or improvements.
    • Maintain inventory, organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of office and supplies.
    • Provide coverage of the Registration Office windows, including check-in and check-out procedures, informational services for guests, and coordination with the various departments.
    • Assist in and eventually coordinates guest group retreats (depending on experience and after training).
    • Assist and give tours to prospective guest group leaders as directed by the Reservations & Event Services Assistant Manager to assist in the development of new ministry partnerships.
    • Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.


    General Qualifications:

    A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith. Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. Of strong moral character and integrity.


    • High School diploma.  
    • B.S./B.A. degree preferred.

    Work Experience:

    Two years' event planning and administrative experience – preferably in Christian camping/hospitality or any combination of equivalent training, education or experience.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
    • Ability to problem solve in the moment, with limited time and resources.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Skills using personal computer and various software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Excellent telephone skills are essential.
    • Ability to learn and assist in the concept development of new software packages.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:


    Physical Demands:


    The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires typing, sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and the ability to lift/carry 25 lbs.

    Additional Requirements/Skills:

    • May need to help set up requested audio visual equipment prior to each retreat (following appropriate training).
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, many weekends, and several holidays.
    • May be required to travel for summer staff recruiting & church promotions.
    • Will be required to participate in Summer Staff Program as a component of the Internship program.
    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA's Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
