    Position Objective:


    The Kidder Creek Lifeguard/Recreation Assistant assists with maintenance and supervision of all recreation activities, grounds and equipment in the Kidder Creek waterfront and pond area to ensure the safety and well-being of campers and guests during all water-based and non-water-based activities enabling students to have an experience consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.  


    Key Job Accountabilities:

    • Ensure safety and well-being of all campers and staff using the waterfront, while enforcing pond rules within the discipline philosophy of Kidder Creek.
    • Assist with care and maintenance of waterfront and surrounding arenas, keeping logs accurate and up to date. Promptly report any hazards or dangerous situations.
    • Facilitate recreation activities safely and professionally.
    • Share in the responsibilities of keeping camp areas (including cabins, living areas, workspaces and supplies) clean and orderly.
    • Actively participate in and contribute to the broader program, serving in both primary and secondary roles with enthusiasm.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

    General Qualifications:

    A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.




    • Possess a minimum of CPR for the Professional Rescuer (infant, child, adult), AED and First Aid.
    • Must have a current Lifeguard Certification.  

    Work Experience:


    • Prior lifeguard experience preferred.

    • Ability to articulate the gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
    • Ability to demonstrate a personal, committed and thought-through faith in Christ.
    • Positive role model, listener, enthusiastic leader, and friend.
    • Ability to supervise and lead a group of peers.
    • Attention to detail and follow-through, creative, flexible and able to adjust to challenges, including changing job assignments and schedules of the program with short notice.
    • Able to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.

    Physical Demands:

    • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
    • The employee is frequently required to run, swim, stand, sit for long periods and use steep trails and stairs.
    • The employee is frequently required climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl.
    • The physical environment requires the employee to talk and hear both in person from close and long distances and by phone or radio.
    • The employee may be required to lift, push or pull persons or equipment over 100 pounds.
    • Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, use of both eyes, ability to distinguish basic colors and shades; depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
    • Must be able to be in the sun for extended periods.

    Additional Requirements/Skills:


    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
    • Assist in service needs (maintenance, food service, and housekeeping) at camp as a secondary assignment.  
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
