    Note: This position is eligible for employee referral bonus.


    Position Objective:

    The Outdoor Science School (“OSS”) Health Technician (“HT”) assists, reports to and supports the OSS RN with all health needs of OSS participants and staff, in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

    Key Job Accountabilities:           

    • Manage and stock the Ponderosa Lodge Healthcare Center.
    • Store, handle and dose medication in compliance with MHA’s Medication Policy and Procedures.
    • Assist with transportation of campers or staff to urgent care or hospital using MHA’s “2 Person Policy.”
    • Check / document AEDs weekly.
    • Document each camper’s or parent’s clinical encounters in Camp Health Log.
    • Carry first-aid backpack, (Epi-pens and Benadryl) on Beach Day and connect as needed with RN by phone.
    • With RN's support, locate, complete and distribute Employee or Volunteer Incident Report, referral form and Workers’ Compensation Packet or Campers’ Incident Report and Campers’ insurance form.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.



    General Qualifications:

    A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.


    • High school graduate.
    • Current American Heart Association Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED which includes care of infant, child, and adult.
    • College or university course work in preventative health practice, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology are preferred.

    Work Experience:


    • Preferred experience (work or volunteer) working with children.

    • Must be a punctual and responsible individual.
    • Must exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
    • Must be observant and attentive.
    • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.

    • Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
    • A heart to serve whenever needed.

    Physical Demands:

    • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.  
    • Ability to see, hear, grasp, and speak English.
    • The employee is frequently required to run, crouch, stand, sit for long periods, and use steep trails and stairs.

    Additional Requirements/Skills:

    • Must possess a current driver's license.
    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
