    Summer Staff - Organized Camp

    Position Objective:

    Works directly with Food Service Coordinator to ensure kitchens are stocked with necessary items and relieve cooks on their day(s) off/one meal per day to keep hours to a minimum, in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.


    Key Job Accountabilities:

    • Complete menu as provided and instructed by the Food Service Director.
    • Pull, prepare, serve and store food in accordance with food handling procedures to ensure safe and nutritious meals for campers’ enjoyment and to prevent food spoilage and/or foodborne illness.
    • Assist in instructing summer staff/students about prepping, serving, clean up, and dish washing methods.
    • Deliver food within camp confines and purchase food in outlying cities as needed.
    • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:




    General Qualifications:

    A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.




    • Valid driver’s license with proof of clean driving record from DMV.
    • Some college preferred.
    • Food Handler's certificate or ServSafe certification.

    Work Experience:

    • Food Service industry experience preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to prepare meals in accordance with industry standards.
    • Ability to instruct and train others.
    • Knowledge and ability to use and maintain industrial kitchen equipment.

    Key Job Accountabilities

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to lift 35-50 lbs.
    • This job may require lifting and carrying cases of canned goods, sacks of dry product, etc.

    Additional Requirements/Skills:


    • Valid driver’s license for use of camp vehicles.
    • Days off will be flexed to meet the demand of the assignments.  Extended hours sometimes required.
    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Living onsite mandatory.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
