Overview

Summer Staff - Organized Camp

Position Objective:

 

The Ponderosa Lodge (“PL”) Health Technician (“HT”) is responsible for assisting and supporting the PL Healthcare Supervisor with all health needs of PL participants and staff, providing for campers with an experience that lines up with the Mount Hermon Youth vision and Ponderosa’s objectives in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:  

  • Manage and stock the PL Healthcare Center.
  • Store, handle and dose medication in compliance with MHA’s Medication Policy and Procedures.
  • Assist with transportation of campers or staff to urgent care or hospital using MHA’s “2 Person Policy.”
  • Access Circuitree-Health history/emergency contact form, parent/guardian consent, and Medication Administration Record
  • Check / document AEDs weekly.
  • Document each camper’s or parent’s clinical encounters in Circuitree and MHA staff/JEMS/AMATA/CILTS in Camp Health Log.
  • Carry First Aid backpack, (Epi-pens and Benadryl) on Beach Day and connect as needed with Health Supervisor.
  • Participate in Health Screening of Campers and Staff as needed.
  • With Health Supervisor’s support, locate, complete and distribute: Workers’ Compensation Packet (DWC-1), Employee or Volunteer Incident Report, Guest/Campers’ Incident Report and Campers’ Insurance forms.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Health Supervisor.

Qualifications

 

General Qualifications:

 

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

 

  • High school graduate.
  • Current American Heart Association Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED which includes care of infant, child, and adult.
  • College or university course work in preventative health practice, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology are preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Preferred experience (work or volunteer) working in health services environment.

  • Ability to work with and lead a team with good judgment and decision making abilities.
  • Must be punctual and responsible individual.
  • Must exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
  • Must be observant and attentive.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.

  • Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
  • A heart to serve whenever needed.
  • Ability to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.

Physical Demands:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Ability to see, hear, grasp and speak English.
  • The employee is frequently required to run, crouch, stand, sit for long periods, and use steep trails and stairs.

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Must possess a current valid driver’s license.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
