Overview

Summer Staff - Organized Camp

Position Objective:

 

The Lead Caterer/Program Assistant is responsible for the preparation, delivering, serving, and cleaning of all organized meals at Redwood Camp.  When not fulfilling catering needs will work to assist the Program Lead to ensure program needs are met in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:           

  • Responsible to provide transportation, preparation, and serving of meals from Conference Center to Redwood Camp.
  • Ensures that Main Kitchen has all details regarding meals with sufficient time.
  • Responsible to prepare serving equipment for outdoor and off-site scheduled meals.
  • Assigns duties to catering crew to ensure all needs are fulfilled.
  • Facilitate and maintain clean and sanitary food service areas and equipment.
  • Responsible for safe operation, cleanliness, and reporting of any damage regarding the catering van.
  • Responsible to provide direction for assistant caterer and rotational staff on catering crew.
  • Assists in other program responsibilities, like leading activities, recreation, crafts and skits, when catering duties are not required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

  • Assistant Caterer and any other personnel from summer staff assisting in catering duties.

 

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

 

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith. Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. Of strong moral character and integrity.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

 

  • High school graduate.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified.
  • Must possess a current driver’s license.

Work Experience:

 

  • Preferred food service experience. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be prepared to problem solve on the job.
  • Must have a heart to serve.
  • Must be punctual and responsible individual.
  • Must exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
  • Must be observant and attentive.
  • Emotionally mature and willing to accept responsibility
  • Able to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.

 

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires climbing, sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, hiking, dancing, etc.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 80 lbs. required.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
