Overview

Summer Staff - Organized Camp

Position Objective:

 

The Crew position works with the Youth Camps Facilities Supervisor to aid Mount Hermon as a whole, providing maintenance, rejuvenation, and inventory of all facilities at Redwood Camp to provide clean and aesthetically pleasing facilities that enhance rather than distract from the program in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.  

 

Key Job Accountabilities:           

  • Works with Youth Camps Facilities Supervisor to maintain clean and sanitary facilities.
  • Responsible to assist in the cleaning of all Redwood facilities.
  • Responsible to provide maintenance of Redwood Camp grounds.
  • Will assist with special projects and tasks as provided.
  • Responsible to inform Youth Camps Facilities Supervisor regarding necessary repairs as well as maintaining inventory and report of facility equipment and repair needs.
  • Will assist with program responsibilities like leading activities, recreation, crafts and skits, when Crew duties are not required (typical Crew duties are Sundays-Fridays 5-10pm).
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

 

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity. 

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

 

  • High school graduate.
  • College experience.
  • Must possess a current driver’s license.

Work Experience:

 

  • Preferred custodial work experience. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Love for youth of all ages is essential; capable of providing strong Christian role model.
  • Must be able to work with and lead a team with good judgment and decision making abilities.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must be punctual and responsible individual.
  • Must exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
  • Able to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
  • A heart to serve whenever needed.

 

 

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Position requires constant walking and climbing up and down stairs (up to 7.5hrs per day). Additional requirements include sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, reaching, bending.
  • Ability to perform specific functions of job.
  • Requires lifting of 60 lbs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
