    Summer Staff - Organized Camp

    Position Objective:


    The Adventure Assistant assists the Adventure Specialist in all adventure and recreation activities at Ponderosa Lodge and the staff who lead them. Ensure that students have an adventure experience that lines up with the Youth Ministry vision and objectives in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.


    Key Job Accountabilities:

    • Assist with the care and maintenance of all adventure equipment. Maintain all adventure areas and ensure that all areas are available and ready as needed.
    • Assist in the preparation of all camp activities, games and cabin activities.
    • Ensure the safety and all campers in adventure and recreation activities.
    • Meet daily with the Adventure Specialists to obtain responsibilities for the day.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Adventure Specialist.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None. 


    General Qualifications:


    A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.



    • College experience preferred.
    • Must be CPR/First Aid certified.

    Work Experience:

    • Prior experience in team sports and ropes course activities.
    • Prior experience in camping ministry is beneficial and preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to articulate the gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
    • Ability to demonstrate a personal, committed and thought-through faith in Christ.
    • Possess proven leadership experience and skills along with a strong background in ministry and leadership of high school/junior high campers and college staff.
    • Able to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.

    Key Job Accountabilities

    Physical Demands:


    The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and hiking.


    Additional Requirements/Skills:


    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
