Overview

Summer Staff - Organized Camp

Position Objective:

 

Amata Lead is responsible model a genuine Christian lifestyle and to assist in the organization, facilitation, implementation and leadership of the Amata program, coordinating with the Intensives Coordinator to lead and support staff to carry forth the vision and purpose of the Amata program in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.


(The Amata program is a two week camp experience that teaches girls entering 8th–10th grades what it means to live as God’s beloved. It provides mentoring for female students and babysitting training where they receive professional training and hands on practice babysitting and be CPR/1st Aid Certified through the American Red Cross.)

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

           

  • Lead, train and oversee daily activities of Amata staff, empowering them to lead students one-step closer to Jesus while ensuring campers’ emotional and physical safety/well-being.
  • Lead and discipline Amata staff providing documentation of all staff reviews and evaluations.
  • Responsible for implementing program curriculum and camp schedule to reflect the vision of the Amata program with the approval and guidance of the Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministries.
  • Responsible for financial oversight including budget and purchasing.
  • Works alongside Amata staff and Conference Center Staff to coordinate activities schedules and implantation of activities as well as facility usage.
  • Responsible to mentor female students and Amata Counselors, engaging in spiritual mentoring and Bible studies.
  • Work alongside campers aiding in babysitting training and hands on experiences to provide leadership, accountability and encouragement.
  • Responsible for the physical and spiritual welfare of campers and Amata Counselors through discipline and guidance of campers.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministries.
  • Responsible for the coordination and oversight of Amata babysitting, scheduling babysitting times with families and communication with families.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

 

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. Of strong moral character and integrity.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

 

  • High school graduate.
  • College experience, preferred at least 2 years.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified.

Work Experience:

 

  • Prior or current experience working with junior high and high school students.
  • Prior camp counseling experience preferred.
  • Prefer prior experience in leadership roles. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Preferred previous babysitting experience or certification.
  • Preferred previous experience working with junior high and high school students.
  • Love for youth of all ages is essential; capable of providing strong Christian role model.
  • Must be creative with ability to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.
  • Able to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • Ability to engage in active listening.
  • Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
  • A heart to serve whenever needed.
  • Ability to communicate with parents and coordinate schedules.

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

 

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and hiking.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
