Summer Staff - Organized Camp

Position Objective:


Young Adult Leads work with the Intensives Coordinator to lead and oversee the programming for the Family Camp Young Adult program in order to lead Young Adults one step closer to Jesus in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.


Key Job Accountabilities:


  • Responsible to work as a team with the Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministries and assistant to explore, create, and coordinate program development and implementation for college age and young adults in attendance at family camps.
  • Accountable to organize, coordinate with necessary departments, set, and distribute schedules to the necessary parties.
  • Responsible for financial oversight including budget and purchasing.
  • Responsible to develop appropriate relationships with college age adults that will promote and encourage spiritual growth in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Accountable for implementation and documentation of program inventory and evaluation.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

General Qualifications:


A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. Of strong moral character and integrity.




  • High school graduate.
  • College experience.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified.


Work Experience:


  • Prior or current experience working with college age students in ministry settings.
  • Must have experience in leadership roles (while working with college age students and young adults).
  • Prior camp counseling experience preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Preferred previous experience working with college age students in ministry settings.
  • Must possess leadership skills and emotional and spiritual maturity.
  • Ability to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • Must be creative, detail oriented, with the ability to follow through with projects.
  • Must be flexible with an ability to adjust and problem solve in challenging situations.
  • Ability to engage in active listening.
  • Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
  • A heart to serve whenever needed.
  • Must be able to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.
  • Ability to engage with Young Adults and invite them into the program.

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:


The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and hiking. 


Additional Requirements:


  • Will be assigned a secondary role as required for all Summer Staff.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
