Overview

Summer Staff - Organized Camp

Position Objective:

The Program Assistant will work alongside the Program team to help implement intergenerational elements of the Family Camp Program to ensure a welcoming environment that fosters learning through the provided program materials. The Craft Lead provides leadership and direction for the Craft program, striving to provide the materials and environment, which will create memorable experiences for Family Camp guests, in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

  •  Assists Program Administrator with developing and facilitating Summer Program Ministry needs.
  • Works alongside and facilitates clear and open communication between all departments and the Program department.
  • Responsible to assist with the organization and facilitation of skits, speakers, musicians and all Program productions.
  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the craft center with the assistance of the craft coordinator to ensure a smooth operation, safe and clean environment.
  • Acts as a liaison between the craft center and guests providing instruction and communicating weekly schedules.
  • Responsible for maintaining all craft equipment.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

  • None.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity. 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • High School graduate.
  • Some college experience preferred. 

Work Experience:

  • Prior camp experience preferred.
  • Prior work in theatrical production preferred.
  • Prior experience leading and instructing crafts preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Must possess leadership skills and emotional and spiritual maturity.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, respectfully and tactfully with camp speakers, musicians, and executives.
  • Love for youth of all ages is essential; capable of providing strong Christian role model.
  • Ability to teach with patience and clear instruction.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • A heart to serve Family Camp guests and other departments at Mount Hermon.
  • Must be able to lead guests.
  • Self-Starter.
  • Must possess creativity.

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, and twisting.

Additional Requirements:

  • Will be assigned a secondary role as required for all Summer Staff.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
