Overview

Summer Staff - Organized Camp

Position Objective:

Day Camp Worship Leader assists FCCMC in the oversight and leadership of the Day Camp worship program. They will help create an opportunity for worship in the Day Camp program, to nurture spiritual growth through worship. Also acts as a Day Camp Counselor and is responsible to model a genuine Christian lifestyle to primary youth, safeguarding camper’s safety and well-being while befriending campers to nurture spiritual growth through program activities and curriculum in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Lead, organize and manage Day Camp worship program including worship sets and musician rotations
  • Responsible for providing FCCMC with 5-6th worship sets bi-weekly.
  • Also responsible for Day Camp Counselor accountabilities:
    • Responsible for the physical and spiritual welfare of campers through discipline and guidance of campers
    • Responsible to implement a variety of camp activities and curriculum, as instructed by the leadership team.
    • Responsible to lead and assist in Crafts, music, drama, group games, etc.
  • Responsible to share in the responsibility of keeping camp areas including workspaces and supplies clean and orderly
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith. Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. Of strong moral character and integrity.

Education:

  • High school graduate.
  • Some college experience preferred.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified.

Work Experience:

  • Prior experience with Day Camp is preferred.
  • Prefer prior experience leading worship.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to play guitar and able to lead students in musical worship in a relevant and interactive manner.
  • Able to coordinate, teach, and instruct fellow musicians.
  • Preferred previous experience with pre-presenter.
  • Preferred previous experience working with children.
  • Emotionally mature and willing to accept responsibility.
  • Ability to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be prepared to problem solve on the job.
  • Ability to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

 

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, hiking, shouting, ability to lift/carry anywhere from 15-60 lbs., and engage in general physical play with children.

Additional Requirements/Skills:

  • Will be assigned a secondary role as required for all Summer Staff.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Possible opportunities to work with campers with special needs through our 1-on-1 program in assisting them physically, cognitively, and emotionally as they engage the camp experience in a way best suited to their individual needs.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
